North Chagrin Nature Center Summer Assistant Service-Learning Position
Position Description
The North Chagrin Nature Center internship provides a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in environmental education and recreation. The intern will work closely with experienced naturalists to engage our visitors in meaningful experiences that inspire a lifelong love of nature.

Responsibilities and Requirements
Key Responsibilities and activities may include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with garden maintenance which may include pulling weeds, watering, mulching and/or removing and adding plant species to existing gardens.
- Joining naturalists on guided nature hikes and interpretive programs on Cleveland Metroparks trail
- Participating in special events at North Chagrin Nature Center
- Assisting with day-to-day summer camp, working with children ages 5-10
- Creating and updating educational materials, displays, and resources
- Participating in outreach and community engagement events
- Fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and exploration
Requirements
- High school senior or currently enrolled in a college or university
- No degree/focus area required, but a biology, education, or parks & recreation career path preferred
- Comfortable lifting at least 25 lbs.
- Access to reliable transportation to North Chagrin Nature Center
- Ability to volunteer in various weather conditions
- Able to follow tasks, assignments, etc., as assigned
