Local Government Auditor
Location: Fargo, ND
Summary of Work:
We’re not the IRS, and we don’t audit your taxes or private businesses. We do however audit state and local government. We’re the team that ensures state and local governments are using taxpayer dollars responsibly and effectively. Our work impacts programs and services you use every day. We’re here to ensure policies are followed, funds are used wisely, and standards are met.
Skillset We're Looking For:

- Positive Personality. Are you friendly, team-orientated, and ready to collaborate? This is huge for us.
- Numbers focus. Yes, we are the Auditor's Office, we do work with numbers. You need to be good at that.
- Eagerness to learn. We'll provide the training and support to help you succeed; you bring enthusiasm.
Why You'll Love Working Here:
- Work-Life Balance: Everyone says it, we really mean it. We don't want you working over 40 hours in a week, we want you to go live your life outside of work.
- Hybrid Environment: This position is typically in the office 2-3 days per week once you have passed your 6–12-month probationary period.
- Family-First Culture: When you're off work we're not bothering you.
- Outstanding Benefits: As you maybe have heard, benefits at the state are excellent.
What You'll Be Doing:
Each day will bring something new, but here's a glimpse of what to expect:
- Review accounting forms, internal controls, and compliance with policies.
- Examining financial records and processes.
- Working with your client to explain what you found and help them find ways to improve.
- Minimal travel required.
Why You Should Apply:

You may not be able to do 100% of the bullets listed above -- and that's ok. We realize no one majors in auditing. We'll teach you what you need to know.
