Marketing Intern

Marketing Intern, Richmond, VA 


Hit Play, a full-service events and audiovisual production company based in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Marketing Intern to support our team.


The Marketing Intern will support our team in developing and executing social media strategies and creating compelling content across various platforms. This internship is designed to give dedicated college students hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media management, and copywriting while working with a dynamic team in the live events industry. 
As an integral part of our marketing efforts, you will apply classroom knowledge while gaining practical skills in a professional setting. The intern will report to the Operations Supervisor.


Education & Experience: 

  • Currently pursuing a BA/BS Degree; preference in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
  • 0-6 months of social media management or content creation experience
  • Demonstrated aptitude for crafting engaging content including copy, photos, and video
  • Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest
  • Basic knowledge of social media tools such as Buffer, Hootsuite, or similar is a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills
  • Works cooperatively with other team members
  • Creative thinking and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in PC and Apple computer operating systems, including Microsoft Office, Canva
  • Interest in live events, audio, video, and lighting production is a plus
     

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Social Media: 

  • Assist in developing and implementing social media campaigns
  • Update social media content across all channels
  • Engage with customers and followers
  • Monitor social media trends and competitor activity
  • Track SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Analyze campaign data and prepare reports
  • Help establish relationships with social media influencers


Copywriting:

  • Create engaging copy for social media posts, email campaigns, and promotional materials
  • Assist in developing marketing content for various platforms
  • Write and edit blog posts, articles, and other digital content
  • Support the development of marketing materials for events and services
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure brand consistency


General Support: 

  • Assist with maintaining CRM databases
  • Help coordinate promotional materials inventory
  • Support planning for meetings and trade shows
  • Research competition and industry trends
  • Assist in preparing marketing reports and presentations


Additional Information: 

  • This is a Part-Time Internship Program with a 12-week commitment. Ideal candidates will have the flexibility to work a minimum of 10-15 hours per week
  • Working times may include occasional irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules
  • Selected interns can be considered for future employment opportunities at the conclusion of the internship
     

Work Environment & Schedule: 
Work is performed in a combination of warehouse, office, and on-location event environments. Noise levels vary from moderate to high. Hours may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with irregular schedules based on event needs.
