We are seeking a Junior Publicist to join our team—someone ready to step into a meaningful, client-facing role with room to grow.
The Role
This is not an intern position.
The Junior Publicist will work closely with the Founder/CEO and senior team to support active client campaigns, develop press materials, assist with pitching and media follow-ups, and help manage earned media momentum across accounts.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Has already worked in media or public relations
- Understands how newsrooms operate
- Enjoys working with complex ideas and translating them into compelling stories
- Is ready to deepen their craft inside a small, high-impact firm
You will work directly with client materials and campaigns, and—over time—be entrusted with greater ownership as capacity and alignment grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and edit high-quality media materials, including:Press releasesMedia advisoriesOp-edsTalking points and interview prep
- Assist with pitching media and maintaining press lists
- Track placements and support follow-ups with journalists
- Help clients leverage earned media through thoughtful amplification
- Stay informed on current news, trends, and cultural moments relevant to client work
- Support campaign coordination across timelines and deliverables
- Participate in internal strategy conversations and contribute creative ideas
- Represent the agency professionally in written, verbal, and occasional live contexts
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5 years of experience in media, journalism, or communications
- At least 2 years of direct experience in public relations or newsrooms
- Demonstrated ability to produce polished, timely media materials
- Proven record of earned media placements (samples required)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and ability to work independently
- Professional demeanor and discretion
- Comfort working fully remotely
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings or events
Preferred
- Experience working with mission-driven, policy-oriented, or systems-level organizations
- Familiarity with national and regional media landscapes
- Comfort navigating sensitive or complex subject matter with care
- Interest in professional development and continued growth in the field

Compensation & Logistics
- $25/hour
- Part-time (hours may increase as client work expands)
- Fully remote
