Media & Digital Communications Intern

The Internet Security Alliance (ISA) is seeking public policy interns, as well as media interns, for Spring/Summer 2026. ISA’s internship program is designed for advanced students interested in cybersecurity and media. 

 

ISA is seeking a Media & Digital Communications Intern to support our growing communications and public engagement strategy.

This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in:

  • Cybersecurity policy
  • National security
  • Corporate governance
  • Strategic communications
  • Digital media and brand growth

The intern will assist with social media marketing, account management, website maintenance, and digital content design to help amplify ISA’s voice across industry, government, and board leadership audiences. 

 

The next ISA intern program will run from March 10, 2026, through September 30, 2026. The internship can be engaged either in a 100% virtual or hybrid that will include some participation in ISA’s offices in Arlington, VA. Interns will receive a $1,000 stipend per month. Interns will be expected to devote an average of 15-20 hours per week to the program.  

   

They will learn about numerous innovative policy approaches based on ISA’s book, Fixing American Cybersecurity: Creating a Strategic Public Private Approach to Cyber Risk. Interns will also be exposed to ISA’s work on corporate cyber risk management, based on ISA’s work with the National Association of Corporate Directors, and ISA’s best-selling book Cybersecurity for Business

  

ISA is a coalition of major organizations dedicated to thought leadership, public policy advocacy, and promoting successful cybersecurity practices. ISA’s Mission is to integrate advanced technology with economics, as well as public policy, to create a sustainable system of cybersecurity. ISA is a not-for profit organization and (aside from its books) offers no products or services for sale. The ISA board consists of the senior-most cybersecurity experts in organizations such as Leidos, L3Harris, RTX, GE, AIG, SAP, Mastercard, McDonald's, and more.  The interns selected for this competitive program will have an opportunity to work with ISA President Larry Clinton and the ISA Board Members.

 

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Marketing

  • Draft and schedule LinkedIn and X (Twitter) content
  • Promote ISA publications, reports, and events
  • Develop campaign strategies around major releases
  • Design branded graphics (Canva or similar tools)
  • Track engagement metrics and performance analytics

Account & Media Channel Management

  • Maintain editorial calendars
  • Coordinate cross-promotion with partner organizations
  • Support outreach to podcasts, governance publications, and industry channels
  • Assist in author promotion campaigns (“Front the Authors” strategy)

Website Maintenance & Design

  • Update ISA website content (blogs, reports, events)
  • Ensure formatting consistency and accessibility
  • Assist with light design/layout improvements
  • Optimize SEO and user navigation
  • Support landing pages for major campaigns

Digital Campaign Support

  • Assist in promotion of:
    • NACD-ISA Cyber-Risk Oversight Handbook (5th Edition)
    • ISA National Defense Cyber Threat Reports
    • ISA 25th Anniversary initiatives
  • Draft email copy and digital announcements
  • Support webinar promotion and post-event distribution

 

Qualifications

Current undergraduate or graduate student (Communications, Marketing, Public Policy, International Relations, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred)

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience managing LinkedIn or professional social platforms
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe, or similar design tools
  • Basic website editing experience (WordPress or similar CMS preferred)
  • Interest in cybersecurity, governance, or national security policy

Preferred:

  • Experience with analytics dashboards
  • Understanding of corporate board governance
  • Exposure to policy research or think tank environments
