Boardy — and early-stage startups in our network — are seeking Founding / Early Software Engineers to join small, high-impact teams. These roles offer true ownership, technical depth, and the opportunity to help define core architecture and product direction from day one. The tech stacks we work with are modern with cutting-edge LLMs, our problems are novel (think autonomous AI agents, not CRUD apps), and we're tackling challenges most companies won't touch for years. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning core product and platform features from design through production
  • Building and integrating APIs, services, and external platforms
  • Designing scalable backend systems and data pipelines
  • Working with modern AI/ML components and LLM-powered workflows where applicable
  • Collaborating closely with founders and product leaders on architecture and technical direction
  • Shipping quickly, iterating based on user feedback, and improving system reliability and performance
  • Taking responsibility for key technical initiatives that directly impact growth, retention, and customer success

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional software engineering experience (or equivalent internships, research, or open-source work)
  • Strong proficiency in modern backend languages and frameworks (e.g., TypeScript, Python)
  • Experience building and operating production-grade APIs and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with modern data stores and search technologies (SQL/NoSQL, caching layers, vector databases)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and performance, scalability, and reliability concerns
  • Exposure to AI/ML systems, LLMs, or data pipelines
  • Ability to own ambiguous problems end-to-end and ship high-quality product in a fast-moving startup environment

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada and the US. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
