The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health is recruiting for the position of Geographic Information Systems Analyst. In this role, you will support GIS databases and mapping systems by creating custom maps, performing spatial analysis, and maintaining accurate geographic data used to inform public health programs and decisions.

What You’ll Do:
- Create standard and custom maps, graphics, and GIS products to support departmental needs
- Extract, organize, and verify geographic and spatial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform spatial analyses such as buffering, overlays, geocoding, and coordinate conversions
- Maintain and update geospatial databases and assist with GIS tools, scripts, and applications
Minimum Requirements:
- OPTION I: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in Geographic Information Systems, GIScience, Geography or a closely related field – AND – 6 months of experience in the uses and operations of geographic information systems
- OPTION II: An Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, GIScience, Geography or a field requiring at least 18 semester units of 27 quarter units of equivalent coursework in geographic information systems – AND 3 years of experience performing technical duties in support of geographic information systems using GIS tools
- OPTION III: 2 years of experience using standard GIS tools and utilities to enter and correct data in GIS databases and provide other technical support for GIS systems and generate GIS products at level of County of Los Angeles GIS Technician II
- OPTION IV: A Master’s degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems, GIScience, Geography or a closely related field that required equivalent coursework in geographic information systems
