Civil Engineering Intern
Nielsen Madsen + Barber, a southeastern Wisconsin Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineering Intern to assist with various municipal engineering, land development, and construction administration projects in Southeast Wisconsin. This position provides an opportunity to join a reputable full-service engineering firm and gain hands-on real-world design experience. The candidate selected for this position will enjoy working at a family-friendly firm located in the heart of the ever-growing I-94 North / South corridor.
The position offers a very flexible schedule ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week with available office hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Potential Tasks
- AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting.
- Assistance with development of construction documents including site grading, drainage, erosion control, watermain, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer plans under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
- Performing preliminary hydrologic and hydraulic calculations.
- Performing research on potential development sites.
- Assistance with research, analysis, and computations as needed in the preparation of reports, engineering studies, and designs.
- Construction inspection.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year civil engineering program.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
- Self-motivated employee who can work independently or with a team.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and have own means of reliable transportation.
