Civil Engineer/Engineer in Training
Nielsen Madsen + Barber, a long-established civil engineering and land surveying firm located in southeastern Wisconsin has an immediate opening for a New Graduate Engineer / Civil Engineer in Training (EIT).
The candidate selected for this position will enjoy working at a professional firm with over 71 years of history and will have the opportunity to develop their engineering skills under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer by working on a wide array of municipal, commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in civil engineering, prior experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and previous civil related internship experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide design support on various engineering, land surveying, and construction administration projects.
- Perform assignments under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Attend and contribute to project team meetings.
- Complete designs and prepare plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Model and developing stormwater management plans using HydroCAD and WinSLAMM.
- Prepare design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Perform research on potential development sites.
- Assist with research, analysis, and computations as needed in the preparation of reports, engineering studies, and designs.
- Perform construction observation / inspection as needed.
- Assist survey crew in the field as needed.
- Performing other duties as requested.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Course work related to transportation engineering, water resources, and/or environmental engineering.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work in a team environment to develop engineering drawings and documents.
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges.
- Enjoys the challenge of working on diverse project types and contributing to the surrounding community.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and have own means of reliable transportation.
- Previous intern / co-op experience in civil design, land surveying, or construction inspection.
- A recent Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain one within six (6) months.
