Human Resources Assistant, Talent Acquisition

Allegheny County Department of Human Resources, by way of Tryfacta our recruiting partner, is seeking a reliable, dependable HR Assistant to support our Parks seasonal talent acquisition and hiring process from mid-March through mid-June, perhaps through July, pending business need.  

The job pays $20/hour, is guaranteed up to 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday (flexible start/end time for 8 hour day between 8 am and 4:30 pm, for approximately 3 months from start date, located onsite with Allegheny County Human Resources at 414 Grant St. in downtown Pittsburgh. The work location is easily reachable by public transit and/or parking is at the expense of the employee for about $9-15/day. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career starter or an applicant looking to gain HR experience and source potential future employment opportunities with Allegheny County post-contract completion, noting this role is not temp to perm nor contract to hire.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least four (4) years of professional administrative experience, preferably in a supporting or coordinator role in Human Resources or HR systems; OR
  • Associate Degree in Business and at least one (2) years of professional administrative experience, preferably in a supporting or coordinator role in Human Resources or HR systems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field is a plus. Office or secondary education project experience may be required for recent graduates to demonstrate work proficiency.
  • Education and/or experience in HR and HRIS/HCM is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Teams and Sharepoint is required. 

Duties:

Roles, Responsibilities and Duties (includes support and coordination of the following):

  • Pre-employment and Onboarding Processing: Verifies candidate compliance with application requirements (i.e., Allegheny County real estate/tax payment, background check, medical screening, etc.); may include processing, tracking, researching, and reporting results.
  • Orientation Planning: Confirms, schedules, and updates new hire start dates; verifies employee data; reconciles data discrepancies.
  • Talent Acquisition Support: Assists with posting, pulling and researching job announcements; compiles content and makes posts on relevant social media platforms and other job board sources; facilitates/submits requests for HR related web content updates; disseminates eligible lists, union bid results, and other requested employment related information to operating departments; maintains and updates related tracking files.
  • Data File Entry and Maintenance: Enters, prepares, gathers, routes, disseminates, and maintains onboarding, orientation, job, and exam documentation for files (both paper and electronic); reviews and monitors employee and data records and reconciles disparities and errors.
  • Coordinates and communicates with internal departments and vendors.
  • Fields and records applicant or operating department inquiries; responds and escalates issues as appropriate.
  • Performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.
