Materials Technology Intern - Summer 2026

Role Description

We're seeking a Materials Technology Intern will support the Product Development and Industrial Engineering team by applying chemical engineering principles to design, optimize, and scale up industrial processes for large-scale production. This role focuses on systems and equipment design, process efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

This position is based at our Manufacturing and Warehouse Facility in Burlington, New Jersey.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in developing and optimizing chemical processes for new product manufacturing.
  • Support scale-up activities from lab to pilot and full-scale production, ensuring process reliability and efficiency.
  • Help evaluate and select equipment for chemical processing systems, considering cost, safety, and performance.
  • Participate in process simulations and calculations to improve throughput and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chemical processes into overall product development workflows.
  • Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations during process design and implementation.

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework or foundational knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and process design.

Experience

  • Previous internship or project experience in process design or scale‑up activities (preferred).
  • Exposure to regulatory standards and safety practices in chemical processing (preferred).

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus).

Working Conditions

  • May occasionally visit other company locations or suppliers under the supervision of full‑time engineers.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
