Graphic Design Intern
(Note: This is a Washington D.C. based, in-person job only. Those living remotely will not be considered)
Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC. We specialize in high-profile projects, such as The Bulwark, Home of the Brave, and Republican Voters Against Trump
We are seeking a Graphic Design Intern to support our creative and political communications teams by helping design and prepare cross-platform communications content for social media, digital platforms, and print materials. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional environment and are interested in graphic design, storytelling, and news media. We’re especially interested in candidates who closely follow political news and care deeply about protecting democratic institutions.
What You’ll Do
- Ideate and conceptualize digital assets that carry our message into the real world
- Review printed material and ensure they meet standard pre-press requirements
- Support video projects with animation and graphics
- Collaborate with video editors, producers, writers, and communications staff
- Ensure all brand standards are met and enforced with each project
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience with graphic design through coursework, student projects, personal work, or previous internships
- Familiarity with design, photo, and illustration software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Basic understanding of visual storytelling and user engagement
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to take feedback
- Interest in American politics, democracy, and media; you actively follow outlets that showcase the best in storytelling
- Ability to work in person from our Washington, DC office for the duration of the internship; this role is not remote or hybrid
Nice to Have
- Basic motion graphics or After Effects experience
- Understanding of UX/UI
- Experience working on content tied to current events or fast-moving news moments
- Personal Computer with Adobe Creative Cloud
Internship Details
- This is an in-person internship based in Washington, DC
- This intern will work closely with the art lead on media content that reaches large audiences
- Schedule and duration will be discussed during the interview process
Summer 2026 Internship Timeline:
Internship Dates: June 1st, 2026 – August 14th, 2026
These dates are flexible and we are willing to work around your availability, within reason.
