2026-27 Coordinator Secondary Language Arts- Curriculum Department

Pay Range: $87,345-$112,238.25, based on qualifications and experience*

 

Percentage: 100%

 

Work calendar days: 218

 

Duration of position: Ongoing

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Secondary Language Arts curriculum and instruction. Work closely with administrators, teachers, and other educational professionals to ensure alignment with district goals and state standards, while fostering a culture of academic excellence through effective professional learning, disciplinary literacy strategies, and instructional support.

 

JOB TASKS: 

1. Lead implementation of high-quality secondary language arts curriculum with a focus on evidencebased reading and writing, complex text analysis, and disciplinary literacy. 

2. Stay current on national and sate secondary literacy trends, research, and best practices to ensure the district’s curriculum remains rigorous, relevant and research based. 

3. Ensure alignment of secondary language arts 6-12, focusing on consistency and coherence across grade levels and schools. Work with department leads, teachers, and administrators to implement best practices of instruction. 

4. Monitor and assess the integrity of curriculum implementation, providing ongoing support and guidance to buildings as needed. 

5. Design and facilitate high-quality professional learning opportunities for teachers and staff focused on adolescent literacy, the integration of adopted curriculum, and college and career readiness standards. 

6. Develop a group of school-based language arts content leaders to build capacity around the integration of adopted curriculum and digital resources. 

7. Coach and mentor teacher leaders to improve instructional practices and enhance curriculum delivery. 

8. Foster collaboration among teacher leaders to ensure coherence in curriculum implementation across schools and vertical alignment from elementary to middle and middle to high school. 

9. Collaborate with teacher leaders and administrators to develop and implement formative and summative assessment practices that align with the district adopted curriculum. 

10. Support use of secondary language arts digital platforms and dashboards to track universal curriculum implementation. 

11. Analyze student performance data to identify trends, address achievement gaps, and recommend instructional adjustments at the universal level.

12. Serve as the primary point of contact for secondary language arts within the district, working closely with school leaders, teacher leaders, and instructional staff. 

13. Participate in district-wide committees and workgroups to ensure that curriculum decisions support the overall educational mission and strategic plan of Poudre School District. 

14. Foster a culture of innovation in teaching and learning, encouraging the integration of technology, inquiry, and other innovative instructional strategies into the curriculum.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED: 

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required 

• Master’s degree in a related field preferred 

• Experience instructing students in a classroom setting required 

• Instructional coaching experience preferred 

• Leadership at school or district level preferred

• Criminal background check required for hire 

• Valid US driver’s license 

• Valid Colorado teaching or special service provider license with appropriate endorsement preferred 

• Colorado Principal or Administrator’s License preferred
