Social Media Intern

Position Summary:

The Social Media & Content Creation Intern will support GreenOak Accounting’s mission to transform the accounting industry by assisting with the creation, organization, and execution of marketing and social media content.

 

This role will focus primarily on content creation and social media support, while providing exposure to broader marketing initiatives. The intern will work closely with the Marketing Specialist to help execute content calendars, support online engagement, and assist with content repurposing across platforms. Success in this role requires creativity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

The Social Media & Content Creation Intern will contribute ideas, draft content, assist with graphics and video creation/editing, help organize schedules, and support day-to-day marketing operations — all while receiving consistent guidance, feedback, and mentorship.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Social Media Support:

  • Assist in creating social media content, including captions, static graphics, and short-form video drafts.
  • Repurpose existing content (blogs, emails, podcasts, webinars, and educational resources) into social media posts.
  • Support content ideation and brainstorming aligned with monthly themes and campaigns.
  • Draft captions that align with GreenOak Accounting’s brand voice and values.
  • Create basic graphics and visual assets using Canva and video editing using CapCut
  • Analysis of weekly social media data
  • Assist with scheduling and organizing social media content using approved tools.
  • Support community engagement by responding to comments and messages under guidance.


Marketing & Administrative Support:

  • Assist with organizing and maintaining content calendars.
  • Conduct research on social media trends, hashtags, and platform updates.
  • Support reporting by tracking basic social media performance metrics.
  • Assist with day-to-day marketing administrative tasks as needed to keep projects moving forward.
  • Participate in marketing meetings, brainstorming sessions, and planning discussions.

All content will be reviewed and approved by the Marketing Specialist prior to publishing. This applies to 3 brands and 4 social media platforms.

 

Skills, Abilities & Experience:

  • Must be a rising junior or senior in college.
  • Must be available to work from May 2026 to August 2026.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Interest in social media, content creation, and digital marketing.
  • Comfortable using Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Basic familiarity with Canva, CapCut, or similar tools preferred.
  • Organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Open to feedback and eager to learn.
  • Creative, curious, and dependable.
  • Comfortable collaborating in person with team members.
  • Willingness to learn GreenOak Accounting’s niche and speak the same language as our community of mental health and physical therapy professionals.

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work full-time, in person during Summer 2026 at the GreenOak Accounting office in Manassas, VA for approximately 12 weeks.
  • Must be able to work in a traditional office setting and adhere to company policies and guidelines.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sit/stand at a computer) for extended periods.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members in person.
  • The role may require occasional lifting of lightweight marketing materials or supplies.
