HR Intern

The Role at a Glance:

 

The HR Intern gains hands-on experience across HR functions, including benefits, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and learning and development. You will assist with onboarding and offboarding, maintain personnel records, support policy and procedure updates, develop recruitment materials, and research employment laws and trends. The role provides exposure to HRIS systems, organizational culture initiatives, and employee meetings, while developing strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a professional office environment.

 

How You’ll Contribute:

 

As an HR Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across multiple human resources functions, including benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and learning and development. You will assist with onboarding new employees, support offboarding processes, maintain both permanent and electronic personnel records, and help develop or review company policies, procedures, and job descriptions.

You will also support recruitment efforts by preparing job postings, interview guides, and reviewing applications, while conducting research on employment laws, industry trends, and HR best practices. Your work will include participating in meetings, assisting with employee culture initiatives, and contributing to special projects such as the Annual Meeting if your internship occurs in April.

Throughout the internship, you will gain practical experience with HRIS systems and collaborate with both HR team members and other departments, including Marketing, to support company initiatives. You will have opportunities to develop strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills while working in a professional office environment.

This role also emphasizes discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail, giving you a well-rounded understanding of HR operations and a chance to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

Education/Work Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be currently enrolled in college at the junior or senior level, seeking an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.

Skills

  • Personable, able to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people.

  • Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position.
  • Ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior HR team member.
