Become a Level Up Leader – Join the OARS Mentorship and Student Development Team!
Do you want to leave a lasting impact, inspire new students, and showcase your Roo pride? The Office of Academic and Retention Support (OARS) Mentorship & Student Development Team is seeking enthusiastic, supportive, and energetic students to become Level Up Leaders for the Summer 2026 Level Up Program! This is your chance to guide first-year students, strengthen your leadership skills, and build meaningful connections within the UA community.

What You’ll Be Doing:
This is about empowering and equipping first-year students for success! As a Level Up Leader, you’ll:
- Lead Interactive Activities: Facilitate sessions on time management, productivity, financial literacy, and study tips.
- Provide Mentorship: Offer one-on-one and group mentorship to help first-year students set goals, build confidence, and successfully transition to college life.
- Foster Connections: Help students build meaningful relationships with peers, mentors, and university staff members.
- Support Campus Life: Host and oversee fun overnight programs to introduce students to dorm living and a vibrant campus environment.
- Prepare Students for Success: Teach first-year Roos how to navigate essential tools like financial aid systems, course enrollment platforms, and grade trackers.
What We’re Looking For in YOU:
You’re an ideal Level Up Leader if you:
- Are Passionate About Helping Others: You care about the success of first-year students and want to cheer them on through every challenge.
- Are an Experienced Roo Leader: You’re currently a sophomore, junior, or senior at UA with insight into the student experience.
- Are Responsible and Organized: You excel at managing your time and sticking to deadlines.
- Can Communicate Effectively: You’re skilled at connecting with others, adapting to different personalities, and fostering a positive atmosphere.
Preferred Skills (Not Required, But Beneficial):
- Experience in mentoring or supporting first-generation college students.
- Familiarity with UA’s campus resources and student services.
- Experience with Microsoft Forms and Microsoft 365.
Pay:
As a Level Up Leader, you’ll earn $13.00 per hour for your participation in this exciting program.
Application Requirements:
Level Up Leaders are required to be available for all dates during the summer 2026 sessions.
- Wednesday, June 17 – Thursday, June 18
- Wednesday, June 24 – Thursday, June 25
- Tuesday, July 9 – Wednesday, July 10
- Monday, July 20 – Tuesday, July 21
Leaders are also required to attend mandatory training before the program’s start.

- Cover Letter: Highlight your desire to be a Level Up Leader, your leadership or mentorship experiences, communication and organizational skills, and how your experiences navigating college life can inspire first-year students. Ensure the cover letter reflects how this role aligns with your personal and professional goals.
- Resume: Provide an updated resume showcasing your leadership, teamwork, academic accomplishments, and relevant skills.
- Letters of Recommendation: Submit two recommendation letters evaluating your mentoring abilities, communication and organizational skills, leadership experience, reliability, and achievements. These letters should provide a clear perspective on your suitability for the role.

Sponsored by Mentorship and Student Development, the Level Up Program is designed to prepare first-year students for a successful college journey at UA. This free, dynamic program helps students build confidence, master practical skills, and form meaningful connections before New Roo Orientation. With YOU as their mentor and guide, they’ll be equipped to take on their first year with confidence and excitement!
