Position Overview:
The technical services intern will provide support for the in-house research and development team focusing on dry coffee, coffee-based beverages, and high protein beverage projects as needed. You will work closely with food scientists to help solve processing and formulation-based questions and develop creative solutions and new ideas. You will be encouraged to further develop your critical thinking, problem solving, and writing skills as you engage in real life food science scenarios.
Responsibilities:
- Support technical services with various tasks, including but not limited to: Sample preparation, sample analysis, development of experiment designs, rheological measurements of fluids, chemical analysis if products, development of research plans, independent experimental work, batching of products, and data analysis.
- Follow safety guidelines and SOPs accordingly.
- Produce detailed and accurate lab and formulation reports.
- Conduct experiments on milk, high protein and coffee-based beverages
- Analyze the data obtained and prepare reports
- Engage in research and discussions to complete the project goals.
- Participate in hands on training of various techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Late-stage Bachelors, Master’s or PhD students that are currently studying Food Science, Food science and Technology, Food chemistry, or equivalent majors.
- Good communication skills with the ability and desire to collaborate.
- Experience with fluid rheology or willingness to learn is required.
- The student is expected to have a strong knowledge of food chemistry.
- Lab work experience in food processing, chemistry, or quality labs is required.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and judgment skills.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Desire to work in a fast-paced high growth environment.
Hours, Location and Pay:
We offer a competitive-based pay rate for our internship opportunities. This role works Monday to Friday regular business hours at our Neenah, WI manufacturing facility with occasional travel to our Little Chute, WI facility.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
