Quality Assurance Chemist

Job Title: Quality Assurance Chemist               Department: Quality

Job Status: Full Time/Permanent

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct research and analysis concerning chemistry of foods to improve food quality.
  • Conduct research and development of new product lines
  • Analyze dairy foods and other products to ensure compliance with food laws and standards of quality and purity.
  • Study effects of various methods of processing, preservation, and packaging on composition and properties of foods, such as color, texture, aroma, taste, shelf life, and nutritive content.
  • Perform quality control tests in processing, refrigeration, and freezing.
  • Work with 3rd party chemical companies to initiate chemical cleaning processes and frequencies on current processes and new processes and establish validation programs for CIP and COP cleaning processes.
  • Use principles of chemistry:
    • to validate CIP and COP SOPs. 
    • to estimate chemical usage costs for management
    • Establish safety procedures for those working with chemicals 
  • Analyze food safety programs for raw materials in compliance with government regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal guidelines for potable water treatment in compliance with State and Environmental Protection Agency requirements.
  • Conduct tests and analyze samples to implement the daily operation, validation, and verification of the Water Sanitation Programs.
  • Research industry standards and the Code of Federal Regulations for food safety controls and implement policies and procedures relating to Current Good Manufacturing Practices, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze WWTP re-use water treatment
  • Analyze WWTP processing conditions

  • Exceptional leadership characteristics, communication skills, and ability to interact with management and employees 
  • Ability to use Microsoft word, excel and databases in order to interact with customers, suppliers, auditors and technical support groups 
  • Demonstrate the Qualified Individuals responsibilities for Preventative Controls 

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Chemistry or a related field.
