PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT
General:
2.2.1.1.1 The employee will perform patient phlebotomy to include inpatient ward rounds,
inpatient and outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), STAT, as soon as possible (ASAP), and
timed draws.
2.2.1.1.2 The employee will perform sample processing and send out preparation.
2.2.1.1.3 As part of safety, positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples
prior to testing or aliquoting.
2.2.1.1.4 As part of safety and safeguards electronic and paper patient information.
2.2.1.1.5 Identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, or processing issues.
2.2.1.1.6 Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional
and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers.

3.2. Option Period 9/23/2026-3/22/2027 3.2.1. Title 5 can only be scheduled 120 working days
plus one option period of an additional 120 days.

Phlebotomist must have three (3) years of recent Phlebotomy
experience.

1.1 The current requirement is for five (5) FTE.
One (1) at VA Brockton
One (3) at VA Jamaica Plain
One (1) at VA West Roxbury
Shifts may vary to accommodate the dayshifts listed above based on the need of the
Laboratory.
1.2 The employee may also be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime. However,
on call or standby duties will NOT be required.
Personnel shall be available and present during specified tour of duty hours at
their assigned VAMC which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for
patient care by the Chief of Staff. Currently, possible shifts are as defined above.
