New Ivy is an international education organization based in Irvine, supporting students with U.S. academic planning, college applications, and long-term academic development through a dual-mentor system.

Role Overview
As an Academic Mentor, you support students through one-on-one academic mentoring by sharing your real college or graduate school experiences—what you studied, how you explored majors, challenges you faced, and what campus life is actually like. Your experience helps students avoid common mistakes and make informed academic and career decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one academic mentoring based on company scheduling
  • Support subject learning, study strategies, and academic skill development
  • Assist students with major exploration and academic decision-making
  • Share real experiences related to coursework, research, and campus life
  • Guide students in research projects, writing tasks, or portfolio-related work
  • Help students understand the differences between majors and career pathways
  • Record mentoring sessions and complete brief meeting notes
  • Provide student feedback and follow-up recommendations after each session
  • Collaborate with internal mentors and participate in training when needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Strong communication skills in Chinese and English
  • Responsible, organized, and able to manage part-time work independently
  • Interest in education, mentoring, or student development
  • Experience in academic advising, counseling, or test preparation (e.g., AP, SAT) is a plus
  • OPT eligible (required)

Compensation (Hourly)
Undergraduate (current or graduate): $50–65/hour
Master’s (current or graduate): $65–75/hour
PhD (current or graduate): $75–80/hour
