Summary:
Boulder Valley School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to support children with visual impairments in achieving academic, functional, and independence goals. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in specialized instruction, collaborative by nature, and committed to providing equitable access to learning for all students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students with visual impairments.
- Support the development and implementation of IEP goals.
- Teach compensatory skills, including braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility (as appropriate).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student access and success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Currently hold a Special Services Provider (SSP) license (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
- Currently hold a Special Education Specialist license with an endorsement in: Visually Impaired (Birth-21) (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
- ACVREP National Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Certification
- Successful completion of the CDE Braille Competency Test, or willingness to pass the Braille Competency Test within the first year of teaching, in accordance with Colorado state requirements
- Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application.
- The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a “READ Act Designation” by meeting specific requirements.
