If a potential candidate has been issued a LIMITED TERM driver's license with an issue date after 02-13-2026, please provide documentation (like a previous DL) that notes how long you have held consecutive driver's licenses.

Comet Cabs are our University on-campus shuttles. This job entails shuttling UTD students, faculty, staff, and visitors around campus.

Applicants must currently possess a Class C, U.S. TEXAS state issued Driver’s License with no restriction, prior to application. Applicant must have 3 YEARS of LICENSED DRIVING EXPERIENCE. Applicants must also have a clean driving record.

Learner's Permit are NOT eligible! Driver's license from other countries and out of state license are eligible; applicant must have overall 3 years of driving experience and a valid Texas driver's license.

Expectations:

Students in this role can expect to work approx. 12-20 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Shift timings can be from as early as 7am to 10pm. Weekend shifts are infrequent but possible for events.

Drivers will transport ADA service recipients throughout campus.
Drivers will inspect ADA spaces throughout campus to ensure they are within compliance: this includes size and markings that adhere to ADA standards.
Drivers will tour campus and inspect ADA accessible ramps, sidewalks, egress and ingress and all points of access to maintain adherence to ADA compliance standards.
Drivers will also inspect signage and markings and verify they are within compliance and submit work orders for maintenance and replacement when needed.
Drivers will provide basic maintenance when needed on transportation equipment to ensure the efficiency of transport and safety of our passengers.
Drivers will present a clean and functioning vehicle for passengers. This includes the detailed cleaning of vehicles used for Comet Cab purposes.
Drivers will maintain flexibility and availability for Parking and Transportation departmental needs. This includes additional tasks such as transport of Office and Enforcement Personnel, providing transportation services for special events, and flexibility in assignments.
