Police Community Service Representative (Entry-Level Civilian Foot Patrol)
The Town of Falmouth is currently seeking applicants of at least 18 years of age for four (4) open Seasonal Police Community Service Representative positions. These are civilian, non-sworn, unarmed positions that work 40 hours per week from July through September, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and assist with major events such as the Falmouth Road Race and the annual Falmouth Fireworks Display.
Under the direction of the Police Shift Commander, these positions perform entry-level foot patrol and fieldwork at Old Silver Beach, Falmouth Heights Beach, Goodwill Park, Main Street Village, Woods Hole Village, and others as assigned. These positions also perform other entry-level law enforcement duties of a non-emergency nature, such as assisting with traffic flow, enforcing Town parking regulations, and reporting issues that may need Police services.
These positions are ideal for applicants interested in criminal justice and/or a career in law enforcement, as the Town is willing to train applicants who have no direct experience, but who do have the ability to:
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with sworn officers, other employees, and the general public;
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and
- Work independently, make decisions, and use discretion.
The Police Department will provide training in the laws and ordinances that will be enforced, proper radio protocol, Police Department rules and regulations, and any other applicable policies and procedures.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or its equivalent by 7/1/26. Candidates must be certified in CPR and basic first aid or have the ability to obtain such certification with support if needed. Successful candidates must pass a CORI background check and a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Falmouth Police Department.
Applicants must be able to attend the required training that will be held during the last full week of June 2026.
This position is paid by the hour at a rate of $22.39/hour during the first season of employment.
Preference Date to Apply: Monday, February 23, 2026 by 4:30 p.m. The position will remain open until filled, but candidates who apply by the above date and time will be given preference over later applications. Candidates are encouraged to upload a cover letter and resume with their application.
