Peer Advisor - Natural Resources Advising Office

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with fellow undergraduates and offer mentorship on career success including resumes, cover letters, job searches, and more 
  • Attend mandatory, occasional Peer Advising training sessions
  • Ensure the safety and confidentiality of students, adhering to FERPA law 
  • Advocate for QANR student body to advisors and faculty 
  • Design outreach materials and social media content, including posters, Instagram posts, and banners 
  • Collaborate with Career Design Center to strengthen resources 
  • Support students in natural resources job search and professional development 
  • Assist students in refining federal and traditional resumes and cover letters 
  • Plan and execute professional development and resume workshops 
  • Support QANR specific events by providing assistance as needed
  • Actively recruit high school students and families at USU events highlighting programs and opportunities in the QANR 
  • Refer students to appropriate services and resources to enhance educational experience 
  • One peer advising position serves as the peer advisor for the Quinney Scholars program, planning events, ensuring current scholars are meeting requirements, and coordinating and interviewing applicants for the program
  • One peer advising position serves as the peer advisor for the Natural Resources Summer Jobs Fair - planning the event, ensuring effective collaboration with staff and employers, promoting the fair to students, managing event logistics such as venue setup and registration, and providing support during the event to ensure a positive experience for attendees and participants

Qualifications:

Minimum: 

  • Must be a current QANR student 
  • Ability to work 8-12 hours a week in-person in the Advising Center in the Fall and Spring academic sessions

Preferred: 

  • Demonstrated experience, involvement, and knowledge within Natural Resources 
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in a team setting 
  • Proficiency in Canva
