Engineer Intern - Summer 2026

Root Engineering Services (RES) provides professional consulting engineering services related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.

We have an opening for an Engineer Intern to join the staff in our Van Alstyne, Texas office. This position entails the support of multiple design projects for a wide variety of clients and facility types.

No Experience Necessary!

Qualified candidates will provide design support applied to mechanical and plumbing systems in buildings including retail & restaurants, healthcare, commercial, industrial and educational facilities at the end of the internship, be able to perform the following tasks:

Mechanical - Prepare construction documents diagramming equipment, ductwork, air devices; Including equipment schedules, and a ventilation schedule to document compliance with applicable ventilation codes.

Plumbing - Develop waste/vent, and water designs to serve the fixtures shown on the floor plan including include waste/vent and water plans, fixture schedules, riser diagrams, and details required for constructability.

 Candidates shall be self-motivated and must have completed 4 semesters of engineering courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

-      Familiarity with REVIT, AutoCAD & Microsoft Office

-      Strong Team Player

-      Good interpersonal communication and writing skills  

This is a paid internship.
