Social Media and Marketing Assistant
The Position: The Social Media & Marketing Student Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Scheduling & Events. This student assistant will create social media content, manage account(s), uphold brand standard for the JHTSU, and completes tasks as given by the Assistant Director.
Responsibilities:
Shift
Curate content with available department equipment/resources (Canva, GoPro, iPad, etc.) and post on JHTSU social media account(s) 4-5 times weekly
Highlight and promote usage of spaces, event services, and building amenities
Strategize and set social media content calendar monthly and for semester
Collaborate with other departments to capture content, share posts, increase visibility/engagement
Set semester targets and goals for engagement, followers, and posts/content
Review analytics and generate reports on a semester basis
Benchmark and implement best practices for content creation
Execute brand standard for social media platforms and building signage
Awareness of event calendar within the JHTSU to generate social content
Complete daily shift report of work in progress, scheduled posts, project queues, etc.
All other duties as assigned
Teamwork & Communication
Communicate building concerns through proper channels of communication
Know and understand the contents of the emergency response plan
Pick up advertised special event shifts when able
Assist other areas of the JHTSU
Attend and complete required trainings each semester
Participate in staff activities
Skills & Qualifications:
Must be in good standing at The University of Akron and minimum 2.0 GPA
Able and willing to work at least 10 hours per week
Must have availability to work Monday – Friday during business hours as class schedule allows
Demonstrates customer service skills
Friendly, enthusiastic, and self-motivated student who has knowledge and interest in social media
Experience and knowledge of Canva for content creation
Able to lift 15-20 lbs.

Adhere to all department policies and procedures outlined in the JHTSU Student Employee Handbook
Check email/Teams daily for updates and information involving the JHTSU operations
Maintain proper work uniform
All University of Akron student employees must meet the designated minimum standards as stated on the Student Employment Eligibility Chart. UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
