Community Engagement / Marketing Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Engagement / Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing communication, branding and outreach strategies that strengthen the public image and visibility of the City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) as well as coordinate and perform all marketing activities and initiatives of the organization to support its goals.

 

RESPONSBILITIES, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Implement and execute integrated marketing communications for all City/CBPU departments utilizing digital, print and social platforms
  • Manage, analyze and report on campaign success, social media analytics, website analytics and Google Business profile statistics
  • Create and design compelling multimedia content including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, activity guides and presentations
  • Draft and distribute appropriate written communication for press releases, social media, award submissions, emergency crisis and other material as needed
  • Manage website with up-to-date and engaging content
  • Work with City Manager, Utility Director and internal staff to coordinate PR strategies, marketing campaigns and outreach
  • Plan, organize and promote community events
  • Oversee community engagement and respond to public inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Oversee and track sponsorships, donations and corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities and target audiences
  • Manage and preserve brand integrity to ensure consistent messaging, visual identity and quality of content throughout multiple departments and marketing mediums
  • Develop long range strategic plans, short-term goals and objectives and special projects
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships with local and regional media outlets
  • Maintain professional development through continued education by attending conferences, workshops and seminars as appropriate
  • Attend occasional evening or weekend events as a representative of the organization
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in graphic design software, video editing and web development applications including, but not limited to, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Rush), Canva and Wordpress
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and PR best practices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office systems
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Proficiency with social media marketing, survey management tools and data analytics for research including, but not limited to, Hootsuite, Google Analytics and SurveyMonkey
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Photography and videography skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong public relations skills to foster relationships with staff and community
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills for measuring campaign performance
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record with social media platforms as well as content creation and management

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field preferred
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of training/experience
  • Experience in media relations, content creation and campaign development

An employee in this position spends the majority of their time in an office setting with a controlled climate where they sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time, are required to talk or hear by communicating in-person and/or on the telephone, walk, sit, move around the office.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. However, employee may also need to traverse uneven ground, work in inclement weather to perform outdoor work from time to time.

Employee may frequently be required to use hands or fingers to handle, reach or feel objects, tools or controls with hands and arms. This individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
