Marketing and Communications Assistant

Job Description:
The Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air is seeking a student employee to assist with marketing communications. This student will primarily be responsible for developing and designing communications for ILWA events, reports, and initiatives. These communications include mass email marketing, press release writing, report and design, web content development, video editing, and more.

ILWA communications and research opportunities are quite broad and touch areas such as natural resources, agriculture, outdoor recreation, data analysis, economics, government policy, sociology, communications, and many more.

Responsibilities:
• Social media management 
• Email marketing
• Audio/video editing
• Graphic Design
• Survey research and data management
• Collaborate with team members and other research staff/faculty involved with ILWA.
• Assist with on-campus and off-campus ILWA-sponsored events.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Strong communication skills, especially written communication
• Familiarity with and/or comfort learning software and web-based programs such as Microsoft Office suite, Adobe suite, photo editing and video editing platforms, mass emailers, social media platforms, transcription tools, cloud storage systems, task management tools, etc.  

Preferred Qualifications
• Journalism and Communications, English, Technical Writing, or Marketing major or minor, or related major or minor
• Experience in marketing campaigns and social media marketing
• Familiarity with several current issues facing Utah land, water, and air
• Familiarity with the USU JQL Institute for Land, Water, and Air

 

Office Work Environment:
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
