CREED Summer Internship- 2026
CREED Summer Internship - 2026
Our organization offers paid internships in the Programming, Policy & Advocacy, and Communications & Marketing divisions. Continue reading to learn a little bit more about what an internship with each division looks like!
Programming
The programming team oversees the design and completion of outward facing events, learning experiences, and projects created for the public as well as education equity stakeholders in order to forward the mission, vision, strategic priorities and initiatives of CREED. At this time we:
- Implement the ongoing programming CREED was founded on including NC Equity Fellowship, CREED Academy, district and teacher trainings, and the On The Margins podcast
- Manage the projects associated with grant-funded initiatives (Jeanes Arts Initiative, LENS-NC learning differences work, and NC10 HBCU collective)
- Develop and carry out other programming as dictated by state education equity audits and policy priorities/needs [i.e., #TeachingInColor, Represent! Campaign, etc].
- Students with backgrounds and interest in curriculum development, project planning and implementation, program design, facilitation, and partner development should find this position rewarding.
Policy & Advocacy
Our organization prioritizes expert race-conscious research on North Carolina-specific education issues, raising the collective awareness of the general public while inspiring and shifting the work of educators as they alter practices and protocols to become more equitable. Some of the work of the Policy & Advocacy team includes:
- Conducting research and analysis related to education policy issues in North Carolina
- Monitoring sessions, committees, and legislative updates
- Drafting legislative progress reports and policy briefs
- Developing cross-sector partnerships spanning the education field
- Cultivating and organizing research documents
- Gathering research and cultivating data to empower various stakeholders and inform them on educational policy issues
Communications & Marketing
The marketing and communications department works to uplift the important work CREED does by keeping our partners, community, and supporters up to date with our programming, relevant news, and organization updates. Marketing and communications play a vital role in growing and upholding a consistent community and supporter base that helps further the work of CREED in many ways, from event promotion to raising awareness on education policy across the state and the nation.
Examples of how marketing and communications interns can support the department:
- Brainstorming new and unique ways to promote our various programming
- Collecting and reporting the lived experiences of our community stakeholders (i.e. the Diversify the Narrative campaign and the #TeachinginColor Magazine)
- Brainstorming ways to promote the work of CREED, past, present and future, through social media
- Creating write-ups on our events that we can use to further promote programming after the fact
- Building infographics to help us share different important data and make them more accessible
Applications for a Summer internship with CREED must be submitted through our website no later than March 15th. Regardless of division, all interns will participate in bi-weekly team meetings as well as weekly one-on-one check-ins with your supervisor. You will also receive professional mentorship and constructive feedback throughout your internship experience. This paid internship requires that you commit to a minimum of 20 hours of work per week.
