STOWE Program - DCRM Communications Assistant Intern
The CNMI Division of Coastal Resources Management (DCRM) is seeking a Communications Assistant Intern to support its Education and Outreach Program. This internship offers hands-on experience in environmental communications, coastal stewardship, and community engagement across the CNMI.
Funding for this position is provided through the NRM STOWE Program to support Indigenous environmental stewardship and the preservation of Indigenous ocean knowledge and management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Draft and edit outreach materials (e.g., flyers, fact sheets, press releases)
- Assist w/ social media management and public announcements
- Develop messaging aligned w/ DCRM's Strategic Communications Plan
- Assist in planning and coordinating workshops, cleanups, and outreach events
- Assist w/ school outreach activities and presentations
- Assist w/ photography, videography, and basic graphic design
- Organize and archive communications materials
Skills and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled NMC student (preference for NRM majors but all majors will be considered)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity w/ social media platforms
- Basic graphic design (e.g., Canva)
- Reliable transportation
- Demonstrated interest in environmental stewardship
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional setting
