Rec Well - Videographer (Summer 2026, Fall 2026-Winter 2027)

JOB SUMMARY

The Videographer will work closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Engagement and the Marketing Graduate Assistant to produce video material for the department. The Videographer is responsible for scheduling video shoots, gathering images and video clips, and creating and editing videos. Video projects include program recaps, highlight videos for Fitness, Group X, Rec Well Sports, Well-Being programs, hype videos for our club sports teams, hiring videos, and other projects as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).
  • Demonstrated experience in videography, including filming and production techniques.
  • Familiarity with or prior experience using professional video equipment, such as cameras, lighting, and audio gear.
  • General photography skills (preferred but not required).
  • Strong listening and communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and multitask in dynamic work environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, work on multiple projects simultaneously, remain calm under pressure, and maintain an open mind at all times
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 
  • Proven track record of effectively managing time and tasks with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing project needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring that all tasks are completed with care. Skilled in identifying potential errors or areas for improvement in processes

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Office Hours & Communication
    • Maintain a minimum of two days per week of in-person office hours to connect with supervisors and other team members (remote work permitted for the remainder of the week).
    • Collaborate with students and professional staff to coordinate video shoot schedules.
  • Project Planning & Coordination
    • Plan and brainstorm creative concepts for video projects in alignment with project goals and vision.
    • Participate in meetings with professional staff to refine project objectives and direction.
  • Content Production
    • Capture high-quality video footage, including b-roll, interviews, and other visuals necessary for projects.
    • Organize, catalog, and manage video clips and images for efficient editing and retrieval.
  • Editing & Delivery
    • Produce and edit short and long-form videos, including drafting and refining edits based on feedback.
  • Flexibility in Scheduling
    • Be available for occasional evening and weekend assignments to capture time-sensitive or event-based content.
  • Hours per Week: 10–20 hours
  • Work Format: Hybrid (Remote and In-Person)

COMPENSATION

  • $17/hour - Minimum rate for new hires
     

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Available to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Act in accordance with the Clery Act as a mandated reporter and carry out responsibilities in reporting a crime on campus as a University Recreation and Well-Being staff member.
  • Must be enrolled part-time, at least 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 4 credit hours for graduate students at Oakland University.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

  • The Videographer reports directly to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Engagement.
  • The Videographer reports indirectly to the Marketing Graduate Assistant.
  • Additionally, the Videographer may receive requests or instructions from any Rec Well professional staff member.
