Summer National Park Service Internships

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has multiple positions are open to current college students and recent graduates.

 

Interpretation

Anticipated Dates: May 17 – Early August

 

· Help visitors connect with park resources through educational programs

· Assist with historical rescue demonstrations

· Create content for the park’s social media platforms

· Assist with facilitating special events

 

Natural Resources

Anticipated Dates: Mid-May – Mid-August 

 

Plover Monitoring

· Monitor federally endangered piping plovers

· Educate others about piping plover conservation

 

Integrated Pest Management

· Control invasive plant populations in high priority habitats

· Mitigate the impacts of insect pests on trees

 

Beach Water Quality

· Collect weekly water samples from popular park beaches

· Conduct E. coli testing using qPCR in the park's molecular laboratory

· Aquatic invasive species monitoring using eDNA 

 

Plant Interns

· Conduct surveys for rare and endangered plant species

· Seed and plant native vegetation in restoration sites

 

Compensation & Benefits
