Communicable Disease Control Specialist

Duties of the Position: The work involves responsibility of assisting in the oversight of the County’s disease control program. The incumbent will perform case investigations communicating and coordinating with appropriate internal and external stakeholders (individuals, other program personnel, departments, agencies, the public, etc.). The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Health with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment. The incumbent performs related duties as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, Biostatistics Health Administration, Health Sciences or a closely related field; OR 

B. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, Biostatistics Health Administration, Health Sciences or a closely related field AND one (1) year of full-time paid or part-time equivalent experience, conducting data collection, analysis and reporting in support of surveillance and epidemiologic investigation. 

NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
