AI/ML Intern
Bowler Pons Solutions Consultants, LLC is seeking a motivated undergraduate or graduate AI/ML intern to join our Innovation Team this summer and help us prototype, experiment, and build real capabilities using modern AI techniques, especially Agentic AI, NLP, and applied machine learning.
This internship is designed for students who are curious, hands-on, and self-driven, the kind of engineers who enjoy learning new tools on their own, experimenting with emerging technologies, and turning ideas into working proofs of concept. You will not be boxed into a narrow task list. Instead, you will work alongside experienced engineers to explore how AI agents, language models, and intelligent automation can enhance existing applications and enable entirely new capabilities.
If you are excited about LLMs, AI agents, system integration, and building things that actually run, not just notebooks and classroom examples, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Work On
- Design and prototype AI/ML and Agentic AI proofs of concept that support threat detection, automation, and decision-making workflows.
- Build and experiment with NLP-driven features, including natural language interfaces, assistants, and task-oriented agents.
- Integrate AI capabilities into existing applications using APIs, SDKs, and modular software architectures.
- Develop, test, and debug software across Windows and Linux environments.
- Experiment with data pipelines, model training, inference workflows, and agent orchestration patterns.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party AI tools, frameworks, and open-source libraries.
- Document approaches, experiments, and lessons learned to support transition from prototype to product.
- Stay current with fast-moving AI/ML trends and share insights with the team.
Who This Internship Is For
This role is ideal for students who have strong engineering fundamentals and exposure to AI/ML concepts, learn quickly and are comfortable teaching themselves new tools, enjoy solving ambiguous problems where the solution is not obvious, and want real-world experience building AI-enabled systems rather than only academic exercises.
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance if required.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Intended primarily for rising seniors or graduate students, though exceptional underclassmen will be considered.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following fields or a closely related discipline: Computer Science; Electrical or Computer Engineering; Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning; Applied Mathematics; Intelligent Information Systems
- Experience or coursework in at least three (3) of the following areas:
- Programming in Python, JavaScript, or C#
- Working with AI/ML libraries or tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, SciPy, and/or MATLAB
- Machine learning fundamentals, including supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and basic deep learning concepts
- Software development in Linux and/or Windows environments
- Integrating software via APIs or SDKs
- Exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, and/or AI agents through coursework, research, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and basic software design principles.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-paced, Agile-style environment.
Nice-to-Have (Not Required, but Valuable)
- Experience experimenting with Agentic AI frameworks, orchestration tools, or multi-agent concepts.
- Familiarity with databases such as SQL.
- Experience with robotics, autonomy, or IoT projects.
- Experience designing and developing hardware/software systems.
- Exposure to ROS or embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar platforms.
- Experience running AI workloads on NVIDIA GPUs.
- Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Curiosity about offline or edge-deployed AI systems.
What You Will Gain
- Hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI practices, including Agentic AI and NLP.
- Mentorship from engineers building real systems for real customers.
- Exposure to the full lifecycle, from idea to prototype to deployed capability.
- The opportunity to leave the summer with working demos, production-quality code, and experience you can confidently discuss.
- A front-row seat to how a fast-moving, mission-driven tech company innovates.
