Civil Engineering Missionary Internship

A Civil Engineering Internship with Engineering Ministries International is a journey of professional and spiritual discipleship that will challenge you to apply your faith, education, and skills to serve the body of Christ worldwide.  EMI as a Christian non-profit organization has provided design services for missionaries around the world for over 40 years, designing needed hospitals, schools, water projects, etc.  There are Civil Engineering internship positions available in many of our locations around the world this fall! Our US office is located in Colorado Springs, but internships are also offered in locations such as Cambodia, Canada, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

EMI Civil Engineering missionary internships are available for students who have completed at least their third year of university studies in their major. Often, EMI interns have already completed their undergraduate or graduate degrees or have been in the professional workplace for a year or two. We are looking for Civil Engineering students and recent graduates, with a similar vision, who have skills in AutoCAD (or want to learn more), and are passionate about making a difference in the world!

During an internship with EMI you'll have:

  • Real-world opportunities to apply the knowledge you've gained in the classroom.
  • Professional and spiritual mentoring: so you grow professionally and spiritually over the term.
  • Supervision by a professional engineer in the US or one of the countries where we operate.

This internship provides hands-on opportunities to apply engineering concepts, develop transferable technical and professional skills, and gain experience in site design, conceptual design, and either Water/Wastewater or Structural design, and AutoCAD drawing. Learning objectives are clearly defined at the beginning of the internship to align with the intern’s academic program goals and institutional requirements. Where applicable, internship experience may contribute toward PE licensure hours. However, this varies widely by university and internship location and will require advance approval & coordination.

As a faith based missionary position with a non-profit Christian ministry, EMI Internships are support-based. Interns are coached through raising support to cover things like their stipend and international travel.

This internship is educational in nature and is not intended to replace the work of a regular employee or exist solely to advance routine organizational operations.
