Microbiology Sterility Intern
The Microbiologist Intern supports the Sterility Testing function within the Microbiology laboratory. This role assists with microbiological testing of utilities and in-process products, including isolator setup, endotoxin testing, and sub-visible particulate testing. The intern will also help maintain laboratory operations through data entry, equipment calibration checks, inventory management, and general laboratory upkeep to ensure a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
**Please note, the schedule for this position will be from 7AM – 3:30PM.**
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with sterility testing activities (Sterility 6-S)
- Perform microbiological testing related to:
- Growth promotion
- Endotoxin testing
- Particulate testing
- Collect endotoxin water samples
- Support isolator setup and in-process product testing
- Organize and review batch records
- Perform data entry and assist with data review
- Ensure laboratory equipment calibration status is maintained
- Stock laboratory supplies and maintain inventory
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and general upkeep of the Microbiology laboratory
Qualifications
- Candidate actively pursuing a 4 year degree in Microbiology or related scientific field from an accredited college or university
- Coursework or experience in a general biology laboratory required
- Microbiology laboratory experience preferred
- Ability to understand/follow all applicable standard operating procedures and cGMPs/cGLPs routinely
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and procedures
- Proficient with current word processing, spreadsheets, and database software
- Ability to operate standard laboratory instrumentation
- Strong interpersonal/group communication skills with the ability to influence others
- Ability to participate in and contribute to a team-oriented work environment
