The Opportunity: Prepare Students for Careers in Healthcare

The Health Institute at Hardy High launched this school year, 2025–26, offering career-connected pathways for students interested in high-demand healthcare fields. Through a partnership with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), students will engage in hands-on learning, including labs, internships, and dual-enrollment courses, leading to certifications in healthcare fields through three pathway programs: Medical Assistant, Sterile Lab Processing, and Healthcare IT.

We are seeking a dynamic educator to teach the foundational Introduction to Healthcare Pathways course starting with 9th-grade students during SY25/26 and supporting the implementation of  career-connected learning across grades 7-8. This role is pivotal in building students’ understanding of healthcare careers and cultivating the technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills essential for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to Mastery’s curriculum and state standards.
  • Integrate real-world applications and project-based learning to teach healthcare concepts.
  • Foster an inclusive, student-centered classroom that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and resilience.
  • Build students’ knowledge of healthcare pathways, including healthcare IT, sterile lab processing, and medical assisting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary connections and align instructional practices.
  • Use data-driven strategies to assess and support student learning.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families to support student success.
  • Provide support to Hardy High teaching colleagues for planning and implementation of health care career awareness activities in middle school classrooms in grades 7-8.
  • Support the planning and development of curriculum materials for advanced specialized health care career pathway coursework for students in grades 10-12 in future school years.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required); degrees in healthcare, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: At least five years of experience in the healthcare industry (highly preferred); experience in education and/or workforce development is a plus.
  • Certification:
  • Valid teaching certification (or eligibility for an Emergency Teaching Certification).
  • Industry-recognized credentials in healthcare fields such as: RN, LPN, CMA, CSLPT, or CompTIA A+ (preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of healthcare fields and industry trends.
  • Ability to develop engaging, standards-aligned lessons.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, equity, and high expectations for all students.
