AI Software Engineering Intern
Help build the AI infrastructure behind an innovative restaurant knowledge platform used by high-end hospitality teams.


About Vantero AI
Vantero AI is a hospitality-tech startup building a restaurant knowledge and training platform for high-end and Michelin-level dining establishments. Our product helps restaurant teams learn ever-changing menus through AI-generated questions, explanations, and practice guest interactions used in real service environments.


Position Overview
We’re looking for a CS intern interested in applied AI systems, backend engineering, and infrastructure. You’ll work on a young but production-deployed AI system that generates training content for restaurant staff, with significant room for technical improvement and ownership. This is a great fit for students interested in backend, LLMs and AI infrastructure.


What You’ll Do
-Design, build, and improve backend AI services built with Python and FastAPI.
-Work on LLM-powered systems including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt pipelines, and evaluation flows.
-Improve system reliability, performance, and deployment workflows.
-Contribute to production infrastructure (Docker, cloud deployment, observability).
-Collaborate closely with a small engineering team and ship features used by real customers.

-Python, FastAPI
-LLM APIs + RAG pipelines
-Docker, Google Cloud (GKE / Cloud Run), AWS
-GitHub
-Vector databases and embeddings


You’re a Good Fit If You Have
-Strong CS fundamentals and interest in backend and applied AI work
-Experience with Python and building non-trivial projects.
-Comfort reading and modifying existing systems.
-Machine learning and/or AI related coursework
-(Bonus) Experience from previous AI company internships.


Internship Details

-Paid internship
-Part-time during the academic year (15–20 hrs/wk)
-Full-time during the summer (40 hrs/wk)
-Flexible schedule around coursework
-Remote-friendly (team is mostly East Coast, some West Coast presence)
-Must be available every Thursday at 3:30pm EST for company meeting
-Commitment of at least one academic quarter/semester (longer preferred)
-Flexible start date
