Retail Asset Protection Intern

The Retail Asset Protection (RAP) Intern provides support to the Operations Services – Retail Asset Protection team by assisting with data organization, reporting, documentation, and special projects. This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to asset protection operations within a large, multi-banner retail environment.

The intern will work closely with RAP leadership and team members to support initiatives related to shrink reduction, safety, incident reporting, and operational efficiency. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience in retail operations, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration while developing professional skills in a corporate setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data collection, validation, and organization related to shrink, safety, and incident reporting.
  • Support the preparation of reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal team use.
  • Utilize tools such as Excel and Smartsheet to maintain trackers, logs, and reference materials.
  • Assist with documentation of processes, procedures, and job aids for the RAP team.
  • Provide administrative and project support for ongoing RAP initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings, assist with note-taking, and track follow-up action items.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Inventory, Training, HR, and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business and investigative information at all times.
  • Manage assigned tasks with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Working Relationships:

Internal:

Retail Asset Protection Team, Operations Teams, Inventory Team Members, IT, Training, Store Accounting, HR, Finance, Corporate Services, and Risk Departments.

External: Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, Department of Homeland Security, Armored Car Vendors, Security System Vendors, and Banking Partners. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:
Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a related field such as Business, Criminal Justice, Analytics, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Finance, or similar.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree program with Junior or Senior standing.

Minimum Experience:
No prior professional experience required.

Preferred Experience:
Coursework or demonstrated interest/experience in retail operations, loss prevention, analytics, or risk management.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Apps or similar data tools preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
None required

Scheduling:

Typically part-time (20–30 hours per week) during standard business hours, Monday – Friday.

Schedule may be flexible to accommodate academic commitments.

 

Travel Hours & Conditions:

Minimal; limited to department meetings if applicable.

 

Physical Requirements:
Minimal physical effort required, sitting and/or standing at a computer for extended periods of time.

Ability to maneuver and lift up to 10 lbs if needed.

 

Salary: $20-$22.50 an hour
