Woodworking Specialist

Be a Woodworking Specialist at Camp Weequahic!

Location: Northeast Pennsylvania
Duration: June 13 – August 11, 2026
Compensation: Competitive salary + housing, meals, uniforms, laundry, and airport transportation

Camp Weequahic is a co-ed residential summer camp in Northeast Pennsylvania, and we’re looking for creative, patient, and motivated Woodworking Specialists who are excited to teach, mentor, and live alongside campers for an unforgettable summer.

This role is perfect for individuals who love working with wood and tools and enjoy working with children—combining hands-on instruction in the woodshop with meaningful camper supervision and mentorship beyond the shop.

Role Overview

As a Woodworking Specialist & Camp Counselor, you’ll take on a dual role at camp. You’ll be responsible for leading our woodworking program—teaching skills, overseeing projects, and fostering creativity—while also serving as a cabin counselor, living with and supervising campers.

This isn’t a typical summer teaching job. It’s a fast-paced, immersive experience where you’ll help campers grow as makers, problem-solvers, and confident individuals.

Woodworking Responsibilities

  • Lead daily woodworking sessions for campers of varying ages and experience levels
  • Teach safe and proper use of hand tools and basic shop equipment
  • Guide campers through creative projects from concept to completion
  • Emphasize craftsmanship, creativity, patience, and pride in finished work
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring woodshop environment

Counselor Responsibilities

  • Live with and supervise a group of 10–12 campers
  • Ensure campers’ safety, well-being, and daily routines
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor both in the shop and around camp
  • Support campers emotionally and socially throughout the summer
  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic camp community

What You’ll Gain

Leadership Experience

Develop leadership, communication, and group management skills while mentoring young creators.

Teaching & Craftsmanship Growth

Gain hands-on experience teaching woodworking in a structured, creative, high-energy environment.

Personal Growth & Fun

Build resilience, patience, teamwork, and lifelong friendships while creating unforgettable summer memories.

Why Choose Camp Weequahic?

What We’re Looking For

  • Woodworking, carpentry, or related hands-on experience (formal training or self-taught welcome)
  • Strong focus on safety and clear instruction
  • Passion for working with children and being a positive role model
  • Patient, organized, and creative mindset
  • Willingness to live on-site and fully engage in camp life

If you’re excited to teach woodworking, inspire creativity, and be part of an incredible summer community, we’d love to have you join us.

It’s the hardest job you’ll ever love—and the most rewarding. 🪵✨
