Camp Weequahic is a co-ed residential summer camp in Northeast Pennsylvania, and we’re looking for energetic, positive, and motivated Basketball Coaches who are excited to coach, mentor, and live alongside campers for an unforgettable summer.

This role is perfect for individuals who love basketball and enjoy working with children - combining high-level instruction on the court with meaningful camper supervision and mentorship off the court.

Role Overview

As a Basketball Coach & Camp Counselor, you’ll take on a dual role at camp. You’ll be responsible for leading our basketball program—planning practices, teaching skills, and fostering a love of the game—while also serving as a cabin counselor, living with and supervising campers.

This isn’t a typical summer coaching gig. It’s a fast-paced, immersive experience where you’ll help shape young athletes both as players and as people.

Basketball Coaching Responsibilities

• Lead daily basketball instruction for campers of varying ages and skill levels
• Teach fundamentals, drills, game strategy, and sportsmanship
• Plan engaging practices, games, and tournaments
• Encourage teamwork, confidence, and personal growth through sport
• Create a fun, inclusive, and motivating environment on the court

Counselor Responsibilities

• Live with and supervise a group of 10–12 campers
• Ensure campers’ safety, well-being, and daily routines
• Act as a positive role model and mentor both on and off the court
• Support campers emotionally and socially throughout the summer
• Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and energetic camp community

What We’re Looking For

• Strong basketball background (playing and/or coaching experience preferred)
• Passion for working with children and being a positive role model
• High energy, responsibility, and a team-first mindset
• Willingness to live on-site and fully engage in camp life
• Prior camp experience is a plus, but not required
