Learning and Organizational Development Internship
The City of Lincoln Human Resources Department is seeking a rising junior, rising senior or graduate student working toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or related field to drive organizational performance for an internship opportunity with our department. In this role, the L&OD Intern will have the opportunity to support our emerging leader programs, compliance training, organizational communication, and other L&OD projects. This is a 20 hour/week internship located at 555 S. 10th South Street, lasting through the 2026 Spring Semester.
This individual will be responsible for assisting with designing, planning, coordinating and execution of projects. The projects will provide valuable insight and exposure working organizationally and cross-functionally and within HR. In addition to the assigned projects, interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.
The City of Lincoln’s Learning and Organizational Development team focuses on the organization’s learning and development initiatives at all levels.
Day to Day
- Learn to manage the administration of the emerging leader programs.
- Assist in Learning & Organizational Development Program Coordination.
- Support the planning and execution of training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
- Help manage the compliance training LMS (Learning Management System) including running and distributing participation reports.
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, such as booking rooms, sending invitations, and preparing materials.
- Assist in virtual and in-person training sessions as needed by facilitators.
- Support Employee Training & Development Initiatives
- Assist in the creation and updating of learning materials, presentations, and job aids.
- Help curate learning resources from internal and external sources.
- Monitor and analyze training attendance, completion rates, and feedback to assess program effectiveness.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing colleague feedback and training evaluations to help identify areas for improvement.
- Plan communication campaigns and draft organization-wide communications.
- Maintain accurate attendance records of training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Rising junior, rising senior or graduate student working toward a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or related field in progress.
Ability to communicate professionally and succinctly with all levels in person, via email, and Teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Detail-oriented, self-starter, and comfortable with broad responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms).
Expertise with MS Teams, Outlook, and other technology platforms to help produce and support virtual training.
Computer and data literacy.
