Engineer Intern

Job Summary

Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) is seeking an Engineer Intern to support technical and programmatic work that advances SEF’s mission. The intern will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team assisting with energy audits, technical calculations, and documentation related to energy utilization equipment. The intern will also support SEF educational and outreach initiatives as needed.

This internship provides hands-on experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean energy financing, and nonprofit program operations.

Essential Job Functions

The Engineer Intern will support SEF staff in the following areas:

  • Attend and participate in SEF staff meetings and client meetings
  • Conduct research and compile information to support the VP of Investment & Development
  • Assist with energy audits, energy calculations, and data collection related to energy utilization devices
  • Support the Manager of Technical Services with gathering required documentation and preparing technical materials
  • Assist with the review and analysis of financial and technical information submitted as part of program-related investment applications
  • Support SEF staff during public events and educational activities as needed
  • Work collaboratively with staff to support assigned programs and initiatives
  • Represent Sustainable Energy Fund in a professional, positive, and energetic manner
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational priorities

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the intern is expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions; communicate effectively with staff, clients, and partners; maintain attention to detail; and take initiative to learn new skills and contribute to the success of the team.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a college degree (engineering, energy, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field preferred)
  • Strong interest in sustainable energy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to research, compile, and present information as needed
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license required
