Position Summary

Entry Level Structural Engineer (Structural Designer) will provide engineering/technical skills to complete projects in the Telecommunications or the Buildings industries in an accurate, complete, and professional manner, and within the established time frame and budget. 

Essential Functions

∙ Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience.

∙ Use computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to prepare engineering design Documents.

∙ Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.

∙ Responsible for reviewing work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting it for review to ensure PJF QA/QC standards are followed.

∙ Research design options and report findings to supervisor.

∙ Provide drawings for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate into drawings by CAD Technicians.

∙ Maintain good client relations.

∙ Actively pursue opportunities in learning and increasing technical knowledge through self- study, webinars, seminars, etc.

∙ Performs other duties related to project deliverables as directed by a supervisor. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

∙ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

∙ Working knowledge of structural engineering calculations.

∙ Strong working knowledge and efficiency in Microsoft Office.

Minimum Qualifications

∙ Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required.

∙ EI certification preferred or ability to obtain EI.
