About the Role
We’re seeking an AI‑focused Design Engineer to design and build UI patterns for human‑in‑the‑loop AI systems that automate and elevate mortgage workflows. You’ll operate at the intersection of AI product design and implementation, crafting interfaces and interactions for LLM‑powered features and agentic workflows that feel intuitive, trustworthy, and empowering. In this role, you’ll help scale our design system and evolve it into an AI‑ready foundation that enables efficient, reliable automated code generation. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and operation stakeholders to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, elegant, and human‑centered solutions. This role is ideal for someone who sits comfortably between design and engineering, thrives in ambiguity and complexity, understands the nuances of AI behavior, and can turn emerging technologies into usable, confident product experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement UI patterns for human-in-the-loop AI systems, including recommendations and insights, human review and feedback mechanisms, and other proactive system behaviors that thoughtfully balance autonomy, transparency, and user control.
- Translate product vision and complex product requirements into beautiful, intuitive, and efficient interfaces, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to rapidly prototype, validate, and iterate using AI-assisted coding tools.
- Evolve ServiceLink’s design system into an AI‑ready foundation that enables efficient and reliable automated code generation.
- Develop and maintain scalable, reusable UI components aligned with evolving design systems and enterprise standards.
You are a great fit if you have:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating real-world UI development projects, showcasing craft, systems thinking, and high-quality execution.
- 2+ years of experience building user interfaces for web applications, including the development of scalable, reusable UI components that ensure consistency across products.
- Strong passion and hands-on experience with AI assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and enhance developer productivity.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3+, and modern responsive layout techniques.
- Familiarity with CSS preprocessors, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern UI frameworks, with an understanding of how they support component behavior and maintainable architectures.
- A business outcome driven mindset, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge the status quo, and propose solutions to deliver meaningful impact.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside technology teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
Why Join Us?
- Shape the future of intelligent, user-centered mortgage tech.
- Work on cutting-edge technologies with real-world applications.
- Collaborate with passionate, mission-driven innovators.
- Enjoy a flexible hybrid work environment based in Pittsburgh or Dallas.
