Transition Associate
Overview
The Transition Associate serves as an assistant for the UI REACH Ready for REACH onboarding program. This position works closely with the Transition and Vocational Support Specialist to support student engagement, organization, and community building in both virtual and in-person learning environments.
This is a part-time, hourly position designed to support students during the academic year and summer programming.
· Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
· Expected Hours: 10 hours per month
· Supervisor: Transition and Vocational Support Specialist
· Format: Primarily virtual, with required in-person summer commitments
Position Responsibilities
· Serve as an assistant for the Ready for REACH onboarding program.
· Attend all scheduled virtual Ready for REACH classes.
· Manage attendance tracking for virtual classes.
· Create and manage Zoom breakout rooms during class sessions.
· Provide basic facilitation and student support in breakout rooms as directed.
· Support the overall structure and flow of virtual classes.
· Communicate regularly with the Transition and Vocational Support Specialist.
· Plan and lead monthly virtual social gatherings for students via Zoom.
· Model professionalism, engagement, and respectful communication for students.
· Assist with the organization and implementation of onboarding activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned in support of student transition and engagement.
Summer In-Person Responsibilities
The Transition Associate is required to support four in-person summer programs and will continue to work approximately 10 hours per month in person throughout the summer.
Required In-Person Programs:
· June 15 – June 19: EXPLORE Camp / Ready for REACH (adults and minors)
· June 22 – June 26: INSTI Camp / Ready for REACH (minors)
· July 13 – July 17: Bridge Camp (adults 18+)
During these programs, the Transition Associate may assist with:
· Student supervision and engagement
· Group facilitation and transitions
· Check-in/check-out procedures
· Supporting instructional and social activities
· Maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment
Required Qualifications
· Ability to commit to 10 hours per month, including required summer dates.
· Ability to attend all required virtual Ready for REACH classes.
· Experience or coursework related to education, student support, mentoring, or facilitation.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Comfort using Zoom and virtual learning tools.
· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
· Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
· Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
· College student or recent graduate.
· Experience working with students with disabilities.
· Interest in transition programming, higher education, or student development.
· Experience facilitating small groups or leading student activities.
· CPR/AED/First Aid certification (preferred. Will be offered upon hiring.)
Training Requirements
· Criminal Background Check upon hire
· Minors on Campus training (if applicable)
· Program-specific onboarding and orientation
Rate of Pay
· $16.00 per hour
