Agricultural Engineering Intern
Job Summary
Battelle’s Environment and Agriculture (E&A) Business Unit is currently seeking an Agricultural Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 (May 18 – early Aug). This position is 100% onsite located in West Jefferson, OH. The application deadline is February 20, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Execution of test protocols/standard operating procedures to assess the performance of crop protection mixtures/formulations
- Preparation of mixtures/formulations, soil samples, filter samples, calibration samples/blanks
- Operation of spray droplet measurement systems
- Inspection, testing, documentation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Assembly and operation of lab equipment including: pipetting devices, measuring syringes, moisture analyzers, etc.
- Following established safety guidelines to safely work with hazardous materials
- Performance of calculations in support of laboratory work
- Preparation of data reports using Microsoft Word and Excel
Key Qualifications
- Must be currently pursuing bachelor’s or master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science, or a related field of study
- Must have at least two years of college coursework completed
- Ability to understand and follow written procedures
- Good oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 50 pounds, and work in the proximity of toxic chemicals
- Must be U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with crop protection products and associated application equipment and systems
