Director of Health and Safety 2026-2027

- Why are you interested in serving as the Director of Health and Saftey and how does it fit into your personal, professional, or academic goals?
The Director of Health and Safety (DOHS) shall address all issues related to health and safety between RHA and university departments, and serve as a resource to the Executive Board and constituents on health and safety-related issues.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Advocate committed to ensuring that the voices of students are heard on all matters of health, safety, and well-being within the residence halls.
- Connector of RHA with campus partners to develop impactful initiatives and create a safer, healthier, and more supportive environment for all students.
- Primary advocate for student health and safety needs within the residence halls and across campus.
- Liaison between RHA and campus partners such as REHS, IPF, CAPS, Health Promotions, and MSU Police.
- Coordinator and promoter of initiatives related to mental health, safety awareness, sexual health, substance abuse, sustainability, and other issues impacting student well-being.
- Organizer and collaborator on events, campaigns, and projects that support health and safety, while also pursuing new initiatives based on student needs and personal passion projects.
- Maintainer of open communication channels between RHA leadership, campus departments, and the student body to foster trust and accountability.
- Representative of RHA on relevant university committees and provider of regular updates on health and safety issues to the Leadership Team and General Assembly.
- Subordinate directly to the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
Must be available for the following:
- Bi-weekly Team Meetings - Mondays 7-9 pm
- General Assembly and Committee Meetings - Wednesdays 7-9 pm
- Fall Training (one week before school starts) and for welcome week events as needed)
- Spring Training (the day before school starts in spring)
- Attending and volunteering for RHA events throughout the academic year as directed
Hourly: 15 Hours Weekly paid on a bi-weekly basis.
