PHEAA Eligibility Requirements
This position is prioritized for students who qualify for the PHEAA State Work-Study Program (SWSP). To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 consecutive months.
- Be a PHEAA State Grant recipient.
- Be enrolled at least half-time in a PHEAA-approved higher education institution.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by your school.
Objective
To support The Pennsylvania Chautauqua Summer Programs schedule of activities. We are seeking an energetic, savvy individual to assist the Summer Programs Committee in a robust seasonal program. This role is ideal for students interested in non-profit organizations, marketing, communications, hospitality, tourism, or business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Marketing & Communications: Create promotional materials and press releases for summer programs. Maintain and provide updates for the PA Chautauqua website.
- Event Coordination: Communicate with speakers to determine AV needs. Facilitate audiovisual set-ups, greet guests, take registrations, and arrange refreshments.
- Site Management: Open and set up the Hall of Philosophy for programming. Assist with guest greeting and occasional chair arrangement.
- Administration: Compile and maintain mailing and email lists of program attendees. Complete a season-end report for presentation to the Board of Managers.
Qualifications
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. Must enjoy working with the public sector.
- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong social media knowledge and implementation skills.
- Design Skills: Graphic design experience is a plus (Canva, Publisher, etc.).
- Availability: Must be available for morning shifts (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) or early evening shifts (6:00 pm – 7:30 pm), generally Tuesday through Friday. Some limited Saturday availability is required.
Hours & Schedule
- Weekly Limit: Total hours will vary based on the event schedule but will not exceed 40 hours per week.
- Standard Shifts: Generally Tuesday through Friday, with morning and evening blocks. No programming occurs on Sundays.
- Flexibility: Start and end dates may be adjusted slightly depending on the applicant’s school calendar.
