Advanced Development Engineer

Position Overview:

BWXT is hiring multiple experienced engineers. We are seeking a self-motivated engineer to help develop the products and manufacturing methods of the future. The selected candidate will work with a team of open minded engineers and technical personnel

Location:

On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia 

Your Day to Day as an Advanced Development Engineer: 

  • Develop next generation components and fabrication methods as related to current and future product, processes, and methods.
  • Designs and executes development workscopes independently and in teams.
  • Support shop floor development Operations, resolves fabrication issues, and generates process improvement ideas.
  • Plan and manage ongoing development by preparing procedures, drawings, and routing documents.
  • Communicate the results of development workscopes by authoring detailed reports documenting areas of success, concern, and opportunity.
  • Support associated equipment acquisitions as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physics is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Undergraduate and industry experience related to manufacturing, automation, and/or materials engineering is preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with both hourly and salary employees
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative design team is required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
